Our History

Located at 64 Châteauguay Street in Huntingdon, Quebec, Place O’Connor is a heritage building constructed in 1915 by Dennis James O'Connor and his brothers. Originally designed as a community center, it once housed a cinema, a restaurant, and a post office. Over the decades, the building has hosted notable tenants, including The Gleaner, the oldest English-language newspaper in the area, founded in 1863, and the Haut-Saint-Laurent MRC. Classified in 2009 for its cultural significance and unique architecture, Place O'Connor has been carefully restored to preserve its character while adapting to modern needs. Today, it continues to serve the community, offering contemporary apartments while maintaining heritage elements such as red brick and cornices.
